Simon Cowell Loves Being a Dad! Meet Son Eric and Stepson Adam With Fiancee Lauren Silverman

Fans know Simon Cowell for his hilariously critical roles as a judge on hit TV competitions, but nothing makes him emotional quite like his kids. Since he became the dad of son Eric and the stepfather to fiancée Lauren Silverman’s son, Adam, Simon has opened up his heart to love more than ever.

A source told Closer that Simon popped the question to his longtime love in January 2022. The insider added that the romantic proposal happened on a family vacation to Barbados, the former American Idol judge’s favorite travel destination. Eric was involved in the proposal, further proving that Simon absolutely loves fatherhood and has made a remarkable transition into becoming a family man.

“Simon vowed never to get married, but he knew Lauren was ‘The One.’ He’s crazy about her so he just went for it. What he loves about it is that Lauren is that she’s beautiful, loyal, keeps him on his toes and isn’t a gold digger. She makes him so happy,” the source shared after the intimate proposal.

Simon and Lauren solidified their loving relationship when they welcomed their first child together, son Eric, in 2014. Since the iconic TV star welcomed his adorable mini-me, he couldn’t seem happier about being a dad. Simon opened up about watching little Eric grow up before his very eyes.

“[Time flies] like you wouldn’t believe,” he gushed to Us Weekly in March 2019. “I said to someone the other day, ‘It’s much easier than I thought.’ And then you can’t imagine ever not having him … It’s the most amazing feeling.”

The America’s Got Talent star is so dedicated to his role as a dad, he revealed Eric was the inspiration behind his impressive weight loss. While previously sharing the details of his diet with Extra in March 2019, Simon shared the reason he worked so hard to lose over “60 pounds.”

“New diet … I went to see this guy who’s very well known. And he said to me after doing some blood work, ‘You can’t have red meat, dairy, sugar, bread or gluten.’ I’m thinking, ‘What about alcohol?’ He said, ‘Maybe not quite as much as you had before,’” he recalled. “And I did it and I stuck to it and it’s easy.”

The former American Idol judge credited Eric for inspiring his new healthy eating habits. “Apart from ice cream, he actually likes water [and] eats all his raw vegetables” Simon dished. “I’m on the Eric Cowell diet.”

“[Simon is] madly in love with his son,” an insider once told Closer Weekly, so it’s no surprise he wants to be around as long as possible for his kids. “He’ll openly tell his friends his intense feeling he has for Eric. He’s turned into a big softie with him.”

Simon’s kiddo, Eric, came along in 2014. Although he’s still young, there’s no doubt the adorable youngster is going to take over his dad’s empire one day. In fact, Simon revealed he’s already preparing him for it!

“I’m getting him ready to do my job,” he said during an appearance on the U.K.’s This Morning in November 2019. According to Simon, Eric is already showing interest in working on his dad’s popular talent shows.

“[Eric always asks,] ‘Daddy, when I’m older, can I work on AGT?’” he told Extra in December 2019, to which Simon told him, “’No, you will be running AGT by the age of 18.’”

Aside from Eric’s future in showbiz, he’s also an author. In February 2020, the music mogul announced their plans to write a children’s book series called Wishfits.

“To begin with, we have announced a seven-book deal with @hachettekids today,” Simon wrote via Instagram at the time. “WISHFIT is a world where the most unusual animals exist. The WISHFITS are magical, unusual and have evolved in a weird and wonderful way, combining two different species to form hybrid animals with very distinct characteristics!”

Because Simon is always there for his little one, Eric returned the favor when the Britain’s Got Talent personality broke his back in an electric bike accident in August 2020. While chatting with Extra in February 2021, Simon credited both Lauren and Eric for being his “support” during his recovery.

“I couldn’t have gotten through it without them,” he said, adding Eric took the news of the “metal rods” and “screws” in his back rather well. “He came in … and I was lying in bed and he said, ‘Daddy, you’re like Ironman,’ and I thought that was the sweetest thing and it meant a lot.”

Simon became a loving stepdad to Lauren’s eldest son, Adam, in 2013. The New York native welcomed her little man with her ex-husband, Andrew, in 2006.

Although there isn’t much known about Simon’s stepson, we know they share a great relationship. The sweet teenager even supported his stepdad when Simon received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018. On top of their red carpet outings, Adam has been spotted on bike rides with his mom, stepdad and stepbrother.
