What are the Most Common Picture Frame Sizes in Australia?

For photography, the most common sizes of photos are 4×6″, 5×7″, 8×10″ and 16×20″. Depending on if you want a matboard border around the photo, the frame size can become bigger because of this.
For artworks, in Australia the most common sizes are A4, A3, and A2 to suit these popular paper sizes, which are also popular printing sizes.

1. Picture Frames for 4×6″ Photos
4 x 6inch photos measure 10.2 x 15.2cm and are the most common size of photograph. This is a default size that photos are commonly printed from kiosks and retail stores. There’s always a wide variety of options for both unmatted and matted photo frames to suit this size, as well as collage frames with multi windows.
If you’re looking for a matted frame to suit a 4x6inch photo, then the most common options would be 6x8inch or 8×10″ photo frame. This is because picture frames in these sizes offer an evenly balanced matted border all around the 4x6inch photo.
2. Picture Frames for 5×7″ Photos
5x7inch photos measure 12.6 x 17.7cm and are popular because they’re bigger than a 4x6inch, but still compact and small enough to look good in photo frames for smaller places such as table-top, a shelf, a desk, a bookcase or a mantlepiece.
If you’re looking for a matted frame to suit a 5x7inch photo, then these can look good in an 8×10″ sized photo frame or even a bigger 10x12inch frame with an evenly matted border all around the 5x7inch photo.

8x10inch photos measure 20.3 x 25.3cm and are considered to be a medium sized enlargement. This size of photo is ideal for a family portrait that you want to display has a feature piece. 5. A4 Picture Frames for A4 sized Art
