My car smells bad – mice urine odor reeks – help! [4]

Guest krauseheim
I have only myself to blame, but after four years in storage, my ’53 Buick Super reeks of mouse pee. I suspect, however, that I haven’t located all the “odor sources”, i.e. I pulled the back seat and seat back and back side panels off, and took care of the two vent inlets under the dash too, spraying every surface I can find with OdoBan
Anyone know of the Grand Cure for getting rid of the smell? It stinks so bad I have to drive with my head hanging out the window like a hairy dog on a hot day. By the way, did I mention that my car smells?Tom Heimerman
 More sharing options…

Fastback50
Hey all, My P19 fastback was “barn fresh” when I got it last week, and I’ve been going gangbusters ever since figuring out all of it’s secrets, one of which (not really a secret actually) was that it had been turned into a mouse luxury liner. I have removed all of the seats, carpeting/vinyl on the floor, and have sprayed the entire car and trunk out with a hose after using a mild degreaser
How do I get rid of the urine smell? I can tell that even the steel retained some of the odor. Also, what’s the best way to remove the headliner without irreparably damaging anything? My goal is to get this thing mechanically sound for the road this summer, drive it around, then begin body/underbody repair in the winter
Thoughts? Also thinking of trying to have the seats extracted at a detail shop so they are usable and bearable for the summer. Thanks to all for replies!
 More sharing options…
