5 Tips for Getting Started with Street Fighter V [4]

Like most fighting games, you get out of Street Fighter V what you put into it. You can get a group of people together just to punch, kick, and throw fireballs at each other until your thumbs bleed and still have a great time, But a lot of the most rewarding moments in fighting games come from learning all the intricacies the game allows.
But even if you’re just starting out, you can play, learn, and improve as long as you’re willing to take a few (dozen) losses along the way.. If you’re looking to start on the journey of a thousand Hadoukens, here are five things you should do to that’ll give you an edge over all the launch-day Ken players you’ll probably end up seeing.
Most tournament-level players use them because fighting games have roots in arcades, where this kind of layout was common. Others like them because they like the way they feel, or because it seems “appropriate” to play fighting games with them.

I would argue on the contrary that getting hours into a streetfighter before 6 drops is of way more value now than putting the same number of manhours into trying to learn sf6 systems with metaphorically broken hands.
I’d say if you’re just playing to get good before SF6 then you could probably play any 2D fighter, and soon a lot of the older games will be getting rollback so you’ll have a ton of choices. That said, SF5 is the best fighting game right now imo
The SFV netcode is objectively garbage, because it gives an advantage to playing on worse hardware. Basically, the slower machine gets up to 15f behind and will dump all the rollbacks onto the faster machine

How to Play Street Fighter 5: New Mechanics [7]

With the Street Fighter 5 beta now upon us, it’s time to take a closer look at how the game plays and what’s changed from previous Street Fighter games to now. While many of you haven’t been able to access the beta and Capcom has even postponed it at this point, we figured this was a pretty good time to give you something to read while we all wait for the beta to go live again.
That’s not to say that SF5 is going to be harder to play than SF4, because it actually looks like it’s going to be much easier to get into. What that means is that players will have to use their skills and raw talent to make a dramatic comeback, instead of simply going for a Dragon Punch made safe by a Focus Attack Dash Cancel (FADC) into an Ultra for 40 percent damage.
Gone are the days of special moves chipping an opponent to death. If you have nothing more than a pixel of health left, your opponent will have to actually land a hit if they don’t have a full super meter

Street Fighter V is Strictly for Professionals [8]

On the one hand, video games don’t get much simpler. You punch and kick your opponent until one of you falls down and anyone can grasp the basic concept
Street Fighter V is everything that fans of the series would want it to be.. And yet, Street Fighter V has to be one of the least accessible big-budget games in recent memory
Street Fighter handles as well as ever, but it’s lost touch with the aesthetic principles that made it a household brand in the first place.. I feel relatively confident making that claim largely because I haven’t kept tabs on Street Fighter since it was in every household, and it’s jarring to jump back into the franchise with SFV

Street Fighter 6: Everything we know [9]

Fill those drive gauges and trim those beards: Street Fighter 6 is about to enter the ring. After Street Fighter 5’s tumultuous launch, stakes are high for the next entry in Capcom’s flagship fighter
Early impressions for SF6 have locked in some very high hopes. A stylish art direction, an 18-strong release roster, an ambitious-looking campaign mode, and rollback netcode have fans hyped
Sadly, that means it’ll miss EVO Japan 2023 by a few months, but it should be ready for competition by later in the summer, when EVO returns stateside.. A Street Fighter 6 PC demo will be available on April 26

Street Fighter V’s V-Shift mechanic explained [10]

Capcom had been teasing bits and pieces of its Street Fighter V Winter Update for months. Now that it’s finally out and players have been able to practice with it, we can dive into the game-changing mechanic that was added: V-Shift.
Just like with any other major addition to the game, Capcom made sure V-Shift could be used as more than just a way to get out of tough situations, including new V-Shift Break counterattack options too. But the main use of the move is to get away from potentially dangerous attacks, at the cost of one bar of the V-Gauge.
In doing so, their character will emit a blue and white aura, causing a brief slowdown for their opponent’s attacks, thus giving them time to react accordingly.. The default V-Shift animation is the slight back dash, which provides a player with a brief period of invincibility to get away from any attacks, including throws and projectiles

The Lead Up To Street Fighter 6 [13]

In PART ONE of this two-part series, we explored the early beginnings of the Street Fighter Franchise. In this article, Part Two will explore Street Fighter 4, 5 and the lead up to the highly anticipated Street Fighter 6 which is scheduled to be released in June of 2023.
Street Fighter, much like the original Star Wars franchise, could be thought of as two sets of trilogies.. Let’s not forget that Capcom took a very long break between the releases of Street Fighter III and Street Fighter IV, and for good reason.
This left Capcom executives scratching their heads thinking, “where did we go wrong?” and this is one of the main reasons why the fighting game community was forced to wait nearly ten years for the release of Street Fighter IV.. If you were hanging out in the arcade scene sometime around the late 90s to mid-2000’s and you were into fighting games, you felt the absence of Street Fighter 4

This will continue all the way until next year when the picture for Year 2 will start to become a whole lot clearer.. The Street Fighter 6 Year 1 DLC will include 4 characters in total

Street Fighter 6: Everything we know so far about Street Fighter 6 [16]

Here is everything we know so far about Capcom’s upcoming fighting game.. Street Fighter 6 was first announced in February 2023 with a very short teaser trailer showing Ryu’s scruffy new look
During The Game Awards, we found out that the game’s release date is on June 2, 2023.. Among the new things coming to Street Fighter 6 is its migration to the RE Engine (see a pattern between Ryu and Chris Redfield getting super scruffy faces?) and the introduction of in-game commentary during fights – a first for the Street Fighter series
Street Fighter 6’s move to the RE Engine enables the development team to change things up not only the game’s graphics and presentation but also the way it is played. As such, Capcom introduces three different game modes that are meant to give players three distinct gaming experiences for Street Fighter 6, which are:

Capcom News [17]

Hey everyone, we got some pretty hype Street Fighter V news today! Nope, it’s not a new character, but rather information on something that will affect all characters; the battle system. For SFV, we’re excited to talk about the new Variable System!
The V-System consists of three variable mechanics all built around the new V-Gauge, which primarily builds as your character takes damage. The three mechanics are: V-Skill, V-Trigger and V-Reversal.
These skills do not require use of the V-Gauge and have different uses per character (e.g. V-Skills are rather important in battle as they may help a character in an area they’re weak at or help to fill up the V-Gauge quicker

Street Fighter 6 Gameplay Revealed [18]

Update [6/2/22]: This story was updated with new information about Street Fighter 6 provided by Capcom after the State of Play.. Capcom delivered our first look at Street Fighter 6’s gameplay and more of its roster at PlayStation’s June State of Play
After the reveal Capcom confirmed the three new modes: Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub. Arcade Mode, Training Mode, local versus battles, and online matches will also return
It did share, however, that World Tour will be Street Fighter 6’s single-player story mode that “pushes the boundaries of what a fighting game is and allows players to leave their own legacy with their player avatar.”. Street Fighter 6 will feature a new mechanic called the Drive System, which Capcom describes as “a new gauge used to perform five distinct techniques to enhance a player’s offensive or defensive capabilities.” The techniques include Drive Impact, Drive Parry, Overdrive Art, Drive Rush, and Drive Reversal.

Street Fighter 6 Cover Story – The Dawn of a New Era [19]

Street Fighter 6 Cover Story – The Dawn of a New Era. Each mainline entry of the Street Fighter series is an important milestone in the fighting game genre
Thanks to the team’s persistence, post-launch roadmap, and an injection of new blood into the project’s leadership, Street Fighter V drastically improved its core gameplay, online play, content offerings, and more throughout its six-year lifespan.. With the benefit of those lessons learned, many team members that righted the ship are back to develop Street Fighter 6
Street Fighter 6 feels like yet another evolution of the fighting game genre ushered in by the franchise that pioneered it in the first place.. We’ve already spent hours playing Street Fighter 6 thanks to an October closed beta test and several summer trade expos like Summer Game Fest and Tokyo Game Show, but we wanted to learn more

2023 Preview: Can Street Fighter 6 please both lapsed fans and ‘casual’ players? [20]

2023 Preview: Can Street Fighter 6 please both lapsed fans and ‘casual’ players?. Capcom’s next entry attempts to appeal to those outside of the fighting game community
Let’s face it, members of the fighting game community are going to be there on day one regardless, and whether they end up falling in love with its new mechanics or decide amongst themselves that earlier iterations were better, Capcom’s practically guaranteed their sales either way.. Interestingly, though, it appears that Street Fighter 6 is aimed as much at those who didn’t play Street Fighter V as those who did.
The decision to make Street Fighter V a PlayStation and PC exclusive was met with raised eyebrows, but the sixth entry will be available to Xbox Series X/S owners too, bringing fans of Team Microsoft back into the action.. What’s perhaps more notable is the way in which Capcom appears to be appealing to those who aren’t Street Fighter die-hards

Street Fighter 6 gameplay mechanics detailed, here’s everything we know [21]

After initially announcing the game’s existence earlier in 2022, Street Fighter 6 was further revealed with an in-depth look at the game, its single player component, and its new fighting mechanics, during the PlayStation State of Play in June 2022. A release window of 2023 was also announced for the game.
Then, a surprise free-roaming gameplay section was shown, with Luke exploring neighbourhood locales, using attacks to find items, and talking to characters.. This is what Capcom is calling the ‘World Tour’ mode
A similar mode will also be fashioned around online play, called the ‘Battle Hub’, which allows you to run around and interact with other players prior to playing a match. Many games from Arc System Works, like Guilty Gear Strive and Dragonball FighterZ feature a mode like this, and they seem to be popular, despite it often taking a bit longer to get into a match.
