The Vault-Tec terminal doesn’t even have an option for role assignment, only highlighting VIPs and managing any switches connected.. I’ve got a fair few mods running, but they’ve been fine so far (I’m level 60+, so a fair ways into this run).

Unnamed settlers stats are most likely 1s with a 2 and maybe a 3 if you’re lucky, named vanilla settlers tend to have a more even distribution with some weird exception (see Mama Murphy when you get the chance) and I haven’t looked at enough SS NPCs to really make a judgement (other than I would personally rework them to fit their backstory better).. So until then I just assign mostly randomly or based on what I feel the character story fits and once I get the tools I go back and try to optimize but I normally fast track the SS2 story (I’m mostly testing) so for me it’s normally with only a few settlements that I developed before that
