After getting the Writ to partake in the Dragon Hunt one of the quests you get given by Maximilian is to recapture a stronghold taken by goblins (The Shadow Fort).. After opening the gate, killing all the small fry goblins and almost killing one of the ogres/trolls (what ever those giants are) all the soldiers got killed and my quest updated to report my failure.
So I am wondering, with the quest which saw me try and retake the shadow fort, was this supposed to have failed or did I screw up? If the latter what effect will this have on me later on down the line

PepperedSnoot Posted July 24, 2012 Share Posted July 24, 2012 I’ve checked the DD wiki (which is pretty lackluster, TBH) and tried to find some info in a FAQ before posting here, but I have 2 questions about this specific quest that I couldn’t find answers to. I finished clearing the cavern with the 3 ogres to make the shortcut to the Shadow Fort, but in doing so I took on too much loot (as did my pawn)
Is there actually a place to rest between the cave exit and the Shadow Fort entrance or should I just suck it up and hoof it back to Gransys? (I know I could have gone back and returned in the amount of time it’s going to take someone – if anyone – to answer, but I saved at the entrance and called it quits for the night.) My next question has to do with the actual quest itself. I hopped over the gap to the other side with the ballista but as soon as I hop in to take out the goblins raining pain for the other side, I’m taken out by their incoming fire before I can get maybe 2 arrows off
