Yona of The Dawn, also known as Akatsuki no Yona ( 暁のヨナ), with its literal translation as Yona: The Girl Standing in the Blush of Dawn, tells us about the story of Yona’s struggle.

The story starts many years ago, when the kingdom of Kouka was ruled by the red dragon in human form, guided by four human warriors imbued with other dragon’s blood. When the red dragon died, the four other warriors set their own paths in life, and thus they became children’s tales.

Many years later, Kouka was ruled by a very kind king. He has a daughter who leads a sheltered life. She has a beloved cousin, Su Won, and her bodyguard, Son Hak, by her side. But things don’t remain silent for too long. Su Won plans a coup and takes over the kingdom, with Yona on the run and only Son Hak by his side.

While wandering the forests, planning to take back her kingson and also running from Su Won’s men, Yona and Hak come across the tale of the dragons. Yona decides that she will find all the dragons and ask for their help in taking back her kingdom. Little does she know that she herself is the reincarnation of the red dragon, and other dragons are more than willing to help her.

Now with Son Hak, the four dragons, and Yun, their caretaker, by her side, Yona gets back on her feet to take her kingdom back and rule it with the love with which his father once did.
